In this new series of works, Rachael Elwell’s paintings focus on a playful relationship between a natural colour palette and geometric forms & patterns within the natural landscape.
These forms are not measured or mathematically placed in any set way, rather they are formed by layering and shifting perspective lines. Overlapping and staggered grid patterns create the basis of each composition.
With the addition of cyclical & seasonal colourways the paint is layered, blended and textured, giving reference to rich and varied skies and landscapes. Rachael has been attracted to and inspired by these over many years & across many locations in the UK.
